Smart Cabinet Terms of Use
Effective Date: 01/01/2026 Operated by: Blanket Box Vending LLC
By opening or accessing this cabinet, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before use.
1. Acceptance of Terms
Accessing or opening this cabinet constitutes your agreement to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the cabinet. Your continued use following any posted updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Purchases & Payment
All items removed from the cabinet are automatically detected and charged to your registered payment method. Prices are displayed on the cabinet screen or within the associated application. All sales are final unless otherwise required by applicable law. You are responsible for all charges associated with your account.
3. Camera and Sensor Obstruction — Fees and Consequences
To ensure accurate transaction processing, the cabinet’s cameras and sensors must remain unobstructed during use.
Intentionally obstructing, covering, or tampering with any camera or sensor — by any means including hands, clothing, or objects — will result in the following fees charged to your registered payment method:
- $25.00 for the initial obstruction; plus
- $25.00 for each additional minute the obstruction continues or the cabinet door remains open during an obstruction event.
These fees are in addition to charges for any items removed from the cabinet during or following the obstruction event. Repeated violations may result in suspension or termination of cabinet access. Deliberate obstruction to avoid payment may constitute theft and could be referred to law enforcement.
4. Product Tampering
Opening, damaging, partially consuming, repackaging, or otherwise tampering with any product while the cabinet door is open is strictly prohibited. You will be charged the full retail value of any tampered product. Tampering with cabinet hardware, sensors, or internal mechanisms may constitute criminal damage to property under applicable law and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
5. AI Video Technology, Image Processing & Privacy
This cabinet uses AI-powered video and sensor technology to identify products removed and generate accurate charges. The following describes how imaging data is handled:
Image Processing by Sandstar: All video imaging captured by this cabinet is processed exclusively by Sandstar, our AI technology provider, in accordance with Sandstar’s Policy. Sandstar de-identifies all imaging data at the point of processing.
No Access to Identifying Data by Blanket Box: Blanket Box does not receive, store, or have access to identifying imaging data.
No Facial Recognition or Biometric Collection: No facial recognition is performed. No facial geometry, biometric identifiers, or biometric information as defined under applicable law — including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (740 ILCS 14) — is collected, stored, or retained by Blanket Box or Sandstar.
Illinois Users — BIPA Notice: In compliance with the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, you are hereby informed that this cabinet uses AI video technology solely to identify product movement. No biometric identifiers or biometric information are collected or stored. This notice satisfies BIPA’s written disclosure requirement. Your use of this cabinet constitutes your written consent to the image processing described above, consistent with this disclosure.
Data Retention: De-identified transaction imagery processed by Sandstar is retained only as long as necessary for transaction verification purposes, consistent with Sandstar’s data retention policy.
